Full House Rewire in Newlyn Granite Terrace
The job
The owners of a two-bedroom granite terrace in Newlyn had failed an EICR - the original rubber-insulated wiring was crumbling in places and the consumer unit was a 1970s fuseboard with no RCD protection. Their insurer had given them 60 days to resolve it or lose their buildings cover.
What I did
I carried out a full rewire over three days while the property was empty between tenancies. All new PVC-insulated cable throughout, new RCBO consumer unit fitted in the hallway cupboard, new earthing and bonding. Granite construction meant some surface trunking was needed in the bathroom and kitchen - agreed with the owners in advance. EIC and Building Regulations Compliance Certificate provided on completion.
On the day
The original wiring had been extended at some point with a mix of cable types. Identifying which circuits were which added half a day to the fault-finding at the start. One circuit had been run through the loft with no protection - replaced and rerouted.
