The job
I took on this job where the client had been let down by a large electrical company, hastily sending the apprentice in on his own with poor communication between the company and builders, and no plan. Cables installed outside of cable zones, poorly secured back boxes, exposed granite walls unnecessarily damaged, and one double socket in the kitchen at floor level where cupboards should be, but four double sockets in a bedroom.
What I did
Unfortunately these issues resulted in the majority of the first fix from the previous company having to be rewired, due to most things being in the wrong place with insufficient slack on cables to adjust it, cables being run on top of exposed granite walls in some places incorrectly installed, and the kitchen sometimes being the heart of most homes, seemingly not completed, often requiring detailed planning of appliance and worktop positions.
On the day
The work started with planning the kitchen in regards to appliances needed, finding out what could be kept from the previous electricians and how to modify it, also how to navigate cable routes around the exposed granite walls. The rest was second nature.
